Happy 85th Birthday Audrey!

I know Audrey Hepburn is no longer with us but I wanted to write a post for her Birthday. She would be 85 Today.

She was not only a great actress but she also was a humanitarian.

I remember watching Sabrina. That was and still is one of my all time favorite movies. About a girl who is considered an “ugly duckling” and has very little money. She is in love with this man her father works for. She has liked him for years but yet he never seemed to notice her. He is a playboy so to speak. Finally one day she emerges again and finally she is a woman. He takes notice of her and it seems like all her wishes are finally coming true. Until his brother takes notice and tries to win Sabrina’s affections before his brother ends his engagement.

I remember feeling this way growing up. Sort of out of place. Sometimes I still feel this way. I wanted to grow up and suddenly become a swan. I think that is what made me relate to this movie so much growing up and I can still relate to it in some ways. I think that is what was so intriguing about Audrey Hepburn was how relatable she was. Not only a great actress but also because she was so down to earth.

I then Saw Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Holly Golightly is most definitely an extrovert. Something I cannot relate to at all. Even Audrey said is was one of her harder roles to play and she really had to go against her usual quiet self to play this character. But, yet it was still absolutely believable. It starts off with her pulling up in a yellow Taxi in front of Tiffany. With her coffee in hand. I think most women can relate to window shopping.

Then she get’s a new neighbor who she falls for. Yes it is pretty much a classic tale. He is intrigued by her. In public she acts like a socialite. But, in private he sees a completely different side of her. And he falls in love with her. Not that she makes it easy for him along the way.
