The Holiday Swap Book Review

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox book review

I picked up this book From Book of the month club last December. At the time I was all gung-ho about reading books at the start of the new year and my goal at the time was to read a book a month. I read In a Holidaze and really enjoyed that by Christina Lauren. The Holiday Swap was my second two person book writer read. But, I ended up stopping in the middle of January.

This past month I’ve decided I want to get back into reading. I counted 50 unread books today when I was organizing my books 😒. my first goal was to finish The Holiday Swap since I was halfway through it. It seemed a little silly to be reading a winter/holiday book in the middle of summer but it was Christmas in July after all.

I decided to read a minimum of 30 minutes a day. And I finished the book July 31st, 2022. I decided besides tracking my reading on apps (More on that in my next post) I would start writing book reviews.

To summarize This book is about twins Charlie and Cassandra Goodwin. Charlie has an accident on set of her tv show Sweet and Salty and ends up with a concussion. She loses her sense of taste and smell. And with the show wrapping in a week she calls on her sister Cass to help her by switching places like they did as kids and teenagers. Each one ends up biting off a bit more than they can chew. Not realizing just how much the other twin has to deal with. But, by placing themselves in the others shoes quite literally they get more than they bargained for.

I thought it was a cute book. It’s more like a Hallmark Romantic Comedy. It is great if you just want a light fun read. I thought it was fairly predictable. But, It is great if you have a weekend in either because it is too cold or too hot and you just want to relax and take a mental break.

I probably could have finished the book sooner then I did. It was kind of slow in the beginning and it took awhile for me to actually get into the book and really connect with the characters. Once I got to the middle of the book it went by so much faster.

I would read more books from these authors who go by the pen name Maggie Knox. Another book by these authors is called All I want for Christmas. I think I will read that more in the winter time though.
