When I saw this book on my recommended Audible book page and read the premise of the book about Internal Family Systems, or IFS, Therapy, which I had never heard of before, I got the book. I am only at the beginning of the book, but basically it is about how our old patterns (most of which we learned from childhood) hold us back. It might be a bit cliché, but I mean, it makes sense. We have these “helpers” that emerged from our trauma so we could find ways to cope, even if that coping is unhealthy.

This one feels like a spiritual deep breath. Gabrielle Bernstein’s Self Help is less “fix yourself” and more “remember who you are.” It’s grounding, gentle, and filled with those little truth bombs that make you pause and say, Yes, that. Gabby mixes personal stories with her signature spiritual tools in a way that feels comforting, not preachy.
