Progress not perfection

Recently, I made a goal to list at least three things on Poshmark and/or Etsy everyday, to network with more people on social media, and blog everyday in April. Yes my expectations where high and it was inevitable that I would not be perfect and miss a day here and there of my goals. In the past I would have just given up completely on my goals. I put so much pressure on myself to be perfect and do everything right but that is never going to happen no matter how hard I try. It took me a long time to realize this.

That is why I love this saying progress not perfection. Maybe I didn’t get three things listed everyday but even one thing is progress. Maybe I didn’t reach out to people and network everyday but that’s okay. It doesn’t mean I’m a failure. And I missed some blogging days this month but at least I’m still blogging. That’s progress.
There were months and months where I threw in the towel and gave up on my goals and dreams for various reasons. Some things I am still kicking myself about and other things I am just trying my best to do again. Blogging being one of those things.
I just renewed my domain for another year and I’ve had this blog going on 8 years now. I’ll write a post on my blogiversary which technically already passed.

So why do I love the saying progress not perfection? Because eventually the reach for perfection has to be thrown out the window. It’s all about what we can reasonably do. And we need to not beat ourselves up for the things we can’t do. In the end that only will cause us more frustration.

Today, I encourage you to seek progress not perfection. Do what you can and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get everything done. Each day is a new day to begin again.
